What is Plantar Fasciitis?

At Active Care, we are dedicated to helping you find relief from common musculoskeletal conditions like Plantar Fasciitis. This page provides valuable information about this condition, including its causes, symptoms, and effective treatment options.

Key Information about Plantar Fasciitis From Active Care in Maidstone:

Symptoms

Plantar fasciitis typically feels like a stabbing pain that is located at the bottom of the foot (the arch or/and in the heel). The pain is usually the worst on the first few steps in the morning or when you get up after sitting for a while, it subsides after a few minutes of walking, but the pain can be aggravated after running or long walks.

How Do You Get Plantar Fasciitis?

The plantar fascia is designed to absorb the high stresses and strains we place on our feet from day to day living. Sometimes too much pressure can damage or tear these tissues causing them to become inflamed.
Sportspeople and people who stand for long periods of time such as teachers or retail workers often suffer from Plantar Fasciitis

Don’t Suffer in Pain

Ignoring plantar fasciitis may result in chronic heel pain that hinders your regular activities. Suffers will often adjust their walk and posture to relieve plantar fasciitis pain but this often leads to other foot, knee, hip, or back problems.

Plantar Fix Splint

Comfortable to wear, the PlantarFix splint helps support the arch of your foot and provides gentle stretch at night or when resting to reduce pain. Our very own Dan Fernandes developed the product which can be purchased online here

The Plantar Fasciitis splint has been designed with 3 straps. The top strap allows your foot to stay in place and creates a pocket on the bottom side, so if required a Kool Pak (ice pack) can be placed to reduce inflammation, swelling, and muscular pain (follow the instructions on best practice). The middle ankle strap has a non-slip material on the inside and creates a short lever anchor to the foot for better focus and tension. The top strap contains orange strips for stretch guidance that allows you to monitor your progress and pressure on the plantar fascia.

Symptoms of Plantar Fasciitis:
  • Sensation of Pins & Needle
  • Stabbing Pain in sole of foot
  • Often worse in the morning
  • Pain in knees or hips due to over compensation
