What Is Running Gait Analysis?

Running Gait Analysis is a method for identifying any abnormalities in the gait cycle whilst a person runs or walks.
Abnormalities can vary but our aim is to look at the results and guide you to learn a safer, more efficient technique.

Who Needs Gait Analysis?

It is common to complete a Running Gait Analysis if you have recently become injured or are regularly suffering with pain after running or walking. Many of our patients are sportspeople or compete in runs/obstacle course races.

Benefits of Having An Analysis

By assessing your current running technique using the Gait programme, Dan can support you in achieving better results, optimising your strength and conditioning whilst reducing injury.

Understanding Running Gait Analysis

Our clients range from novice runners and professional sports people alongside those who may not be particularly active. Running Gait analysis may be useful to those who have posture issues, those who find difficulties walking and also those who experience knee and ankle pain. In some cases, our patients can remain clothed for the duration of their osteopath treatment so we recommend patients wear comfortable, loose clothing.
It is sometimes necessary to remove clothing so we can observe certain patterns within the body. You may also be asked to remove restrictive clothing like jeans, additional layers or jewellery so please discuss any preference with your practitioner. It is useful to bring a loose pair of shorts and/or sports bra if you are uncertain.

We appreciate that there are sometimes occasions where a client may be running late. We will always do our best to still accommodate your appointment but if it is going to impact the following client it is not always possible.
Please call or leave a message if you know that you are running late. Your practitioner will return your call at their earliest convenience.
Unattended appointments will be charged if they are not cancelled more than 24 Hours in advance.

Due to our town centre location, we do not have specific parking available to our staff or patients.
Fremlin Walk Car Park is the closest (Approx 3 Minutes Walk) to our clinic however there are other car parks such as Medway Street (6 Minutes) or Maidstone Train Station (6 Minutes) which our clients frequent as they are also a short walk away.
Areas along Lower Bexley Road & Alexandra Street (8-10 Minutes) offer 2 Hour Free parking options but please check local signage.

As reputable health professionals, it is important we know some background about the history of our patients prior to treating them. This enables us to support and treat your body as a whole, ensuring we achieve better results.
Often a patient will visit us with a specific symptom but after a short assessment it is found to be connected to an other area of the body, past injury or medical condition. We ask that new and returning patients are open and honest with us so we can meet their needs effectively.

If you wish to receive an Osteopath treatment whilst pregnant, we ask that you inform us at the earliest opportunity as we may need to complete a short phone consultation prior to your visit.
As Women’s health experts we regularly treat women across all trimesters of pregnancy and post-natally too. Active Care Maidstone know that Osteopathy in pregnancy can be beneficial to many women and are here to help.
